Tavsiye Sistemleri: YouTube Tavşan Deliğinden Aşağı Düşmek
(2023) Eker, Halime Suvay; Orkan, Serra
In the digitalized world, creation of big data and analyzing of them with many different techniques have made it possible to draw inferences according to people’s interests. It is kown that YouTube -to keep its users active on the platform- makes use of algorithms recommending videos that users will be interested in and like them. When users start watching a video on YouTube in any subject, they also begin to fall into a rabbit hole and watch similar videos on after another. In other words, with a sense of wonder, they go deeper, as they click and click to understand what is happening inside the subject. In this research it is examined what kind of effects recommendation systems have on users that YouTube uses using the literature review method. As a result of the review of previous studies the same subject, it has been concluded that users are satisfied with the recommendations; however they are also under the influence of rabbit hole, filter bubble and echo chambers.
