Article Analyzing Cost Efficiency and Project Scope in Post-Disaster Housing: Reconstruction Cases of Toki in Türkiye(MDPI, 2025) Geylani, OzlemThe Mass Housing Administration of T & uuml;rkiye (TOKI) operates as the primary public organization responsible for delivering extensive affordable housing throughout T & uuml;rkiye while ensuring disaster resilience. The recent decades of earthquakes and environmental hazards in T & uuml;rkiye have necessitated extensive post-disaster reconstruction initiatives nationwide. In response, TOKI has completed numerous disaster housing projects across the country through an integrated infrastructure framework supporting community recovery. This study presents an extensive statistical evaluation of 664 disaster housing projects constructed by TOKI across 40 provinces. Specifically, a quantitative analysis is conducted on 434 disaster housing projects for which detailed financial data are available. This research examines differences in construction costs between urban mass housing developments and rural village settlements, particularly focusing on the integration of functional structures such as schools, mosques, commercial units, and barns. Although mass housing projects require significantly larger total budgets due to their extensive scale, statistical analysis reveals no significant difference in per-unit construction costs between mass housing and village housing projects. Regression analysis indicates that incorporating barns increased per-unit construction costs, while the presence of schools and mosques significantly decreases these expenses. The findings of this research provide critical insights into the economic and functional factors influencing disaster housing reconstruction in T & uuml;rkiye and offer practical recommendations for improved planning, resource management, and community reconstruction based on an evaluation of functional structures.Article Applicability of a Digitalization Model Based on Augmented Reality for Building Construction Education in Architecture(Emerald Group Publishing Ltd, 2023) Guray, Tayibe Seyman; Kismet, BurcuPurpose The purpose of this paper is to introduce a digitalization model (DM) for building construction courses in architectural education as a response to the recent emerging technologies in the era of digital transformations. This DM is developed and applied through augmented reality (AR) technologies to boost perception, understandings and ability to solve building construction details. Design/methodology/approach Based on a thorough review of recent technologies like AR, virtual reality (VR), building information modelling (BIM) and their applications in architectural education, the methodology involves the generation of a model, its application and evaluation. The model is based on the integration of BIM and AR which is applied into a third year "Building Construction Project" course. Each student has designed a residential building and accordingly prepared the construction drawings by adapting the DM. An online survey -based on Technology Acceptance Model - is conducted to evaluate the DM by quantitative data analysis from SPSS and Excel. Findings The key findings of the study include the following items: determination of the proper digital tools, the definition of the steps and workflow based on the building project phases to develop construction drawings and define precise details effectively. By the help of this, the DM is generated and applied. According to the survey and results, the DM which involves BIM-based AR is considered as beneficial, highly motivating and providing better perception on construction details. Originality/value Implication of AR/VR technologies is frequently seen in design studios, whereas building construction courses state its traditional approach. However, there is a huge potential in the digitalization of building construction education by increasing the perception of students together with the increased level of communication. The study aims to close the gap of digitalization by proposing a DM, which brings a systematic approach considering each phase of building construction project as conceptual, schematic, design development and construction documents by using BIM integrated AR. Moreover, the novel model specifically brings a new approach by generation of QR codes for construction details to embed videos or simulations into the two-dimensional drawing sheets. Furthermore, the DM proposes a new approach to satisfy emerging needs and requirements of the Architecture Engineering Construction industry.Article Applying Entropy Weighting and 2-Tuple Linguistic T-Spherical Fuzzy MCDM: A Case Study of Developing a Strategic Sustainability Plan for Istanbul Airport(MDPI, 2024) Mizrak, Filiz; Polat, Levent; Tasar, Sezin AcikThis study presents a novel sustainability plan tailored for Istanbul Airport, leveraging advanced decision-making methodologies to address the urgent need for sustainable practices in aviation. By integrating the entropy weighting and 2-tuple linguistic T-spherical fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) models, the study offers a comprehensive approach to evaluating and prioritizing sustainability criteria based on expert input from 12 professionals. The novelty of this research lies in its unique combination of advanced MCDM techniques with cutting-edge technologies, including IoT-enabled monitoring systems, digital twin models, blockchain-based sustainability reporting, and carbon capture initiatives, tailored specifically for large-scale airport operations. The study develops a phased implementation roadmap comprising three stages: (1) a short-term focus on energy efficiency and renewable energy infrastructure, achieving significant cost reductions within a 3-7.5-year payback period; (2) medium-term initiatives integrating IoT and digital twins to enhance operational efficiency; and (3) long-term measures incorporating carbon capture and blockchain for transparency and compliance. Key implementation steps include upgrading energy systems, deploying IoT sensors, creating digital replicas of airport infrastructure, and establishing regulatory and stakeholder collaboration frameworks. This research contributes a replicable framework for airports worldwide, bridging theoretical models with actionable solutions.Article Can Commercial Buildings Cope with Australian Bushfires? An IAQ Analysis(Ubiquity Press Ltd, 2021) Brambilla, Arianna; Candido, Christhina; Sangiorgio, Marco filippo; Gocer, Ozgur; Gocer, KenanThe Australian 2019/20 summer witnessed an extraordinary bushfire season characterised by unprecedented duration, geographical reach and impact. The aftermath of the bushfires includes increased health-related implications on people due to short and long exposure to poor air quality. The current advice from the Australian authorities in such events is to remain indoors, as it was assumed indoor air quality (IAQ) is healthy. This paper examined that assumption and presents the case study of an office building in Canberra subjected to the 2019/20 bushfires, responding to the need of understanding the ability of air-conditioning buildings to cope with such unprecedented and extreme weather events. Measured data for indoor concentration of CO2, PM10 and PM2.5 recorded a prolonged period of concerning levels, as well as extreme concentration peaks. This poses a significant risk to the occupants' health. The values showed peaks up to 12 times higher for PM10 and 24 times higher for PM2.5 than the recommended critical thresholds. The infiltration factor and protection performance analysis suggest that old filtering systems and low airtightness levels are not optimal in protecting the indoor environment from outdoor air pollutants.Article Cd Dopant Effect on Structural and Optoelectronic Properties of TiO2 Solar Detectors(Springer, 2021) Ilhan, Mustafa; Koc, Mumin Mehmet; Coskun, Burhan; Erkovan, Mustafa; Yakuphanoglu, FahrettinAl/n-Si/Ti1-xO2CdxO/Al photodiodes were produced using sol-gel and spin coating methods where CdO dopant was applied on different concentrations (x = 0.0; x = 0.01; x = 0.05; x = 0.10). Cd dopant effect upon structural, optical, photodiode and electrical properties was assessed. Scanning electron microscope and energy-dispersive spectra were used in the structural investigation. Optic properties were assessed using UV-Vis spectroscopy and bandgap energies of the photodiodes were calculated which were found to be between 3.25 and 3.36 eV. Increased bandgap energy was observed with increased CdO doping rate. Photodiode properties were assessed under varying daylight illuminations. Barrier height, ideality factor, dark current, linear dynamic rate, photosensitivity, photoresponsivity of the photodiodes were calculated. Electrical properties of the Al/n-Si/Ti1-xO2CdxO/Al photodiodes were calculated where conductance-voltage and capacitance-voltage plots were obtained. Corrective conductance-voltage and corrective capacitance-voltage graphs confirm that the electrical properties of the photodiodes depend on AC signal frequency. Frequency-dependent electrical characteristics were attributed to the density of interface states which were found to be between 10(11) and 10(12). Decreased density of interface state was found for increased AC signal frequency.Article Comparing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Ericksonian Hypnotherapy for Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder: A Randomized Controlled Trial(Routledge, 2026) Çınaroğlu M.; Yılmazer E.; Odabaşı C.; Ülker S.V.; Tan S.; Hızlı Sayar G.Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a chronic condition that often responds well to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), though many patients fail to achieve full remission. Ericksonian Hypnotherapy (EH) has been proposed as a promising alternative. This randomized controlled trial compared the efficacy of CBT and EH against a waitlist control in 99 adults with OCD. Participants received 12 weekly online therapy sessions. Outcomes were assessed at baseline, mid-treatment, and post-treatment using the Padua Inventory-Revised, Yale–Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale–Self-Report (Y-BOCS-SR), and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). Both CBT and EH led to large, statistically and clinically significant reductions in OCD symptoms compared to waitlist. CBT was more effective for compulsive behaviors such as washing, while EH produced greater reductions in obsessive rumination and general anxiety. No serious adverse events occurred. These findings suggest that EH is a viable and comparably effective treatment to CBT, with distinct therapeutic benefits. EH may offer a particularly useful option for patients with obsession-dominant symptom profiles or comorbid anxiety. © 2026 International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis.Article Comparison of Domino Transplantation with Two-Way Paired Exchange and Normal Transplantation: Acute Rejection, Surgical Complications, and 5-Year Survival Outcomes(Springer, 2025) Huseynov, Amil; Cicek, Sevim Nuran KusluBackground Domino kidney paired donation and Two-Way Paired Exchange have emerged as vital strategies to expand the donor pool in renal transplantation, especially for patients facing ABO or HLA incompatibilities. Despite their potential benefits, concerns remain regarding immunological risks, infectious complications, and long-term graft survival. Methods In this retrospective cohort study conducted at Medicana Transplant Center, 980 adult kidney transplant recipients were categorized into three groups: Domino (n = 144), Two-Way Paired Exchange (n = 350), and Normal Transplant (n = 486). Baseline characteristics, acute rejection rates, and surgical or infectious complications were collected, alongside data on 1-year and 5-year patient and graft survival. Statistical analysis included Kaplan-Meier survival curves and Cox proportional hazards modeling for independent predictors of graft outcomes. Results The Domino group had the highest 1-year acute rejection rate (17.4%) compared to Two-Way Paired Exchange (4.3%) and Normal Transplant (3.7%), yet 1-year graft survival rates remained comparable (92%, 95%, and 96%, respectively; p = 0.271). Infectious complications were more frequent in the Domino group (25%) than in others (p < 0.01). Extended follow-up to 5 years indicated no statistically significant difference in overall graft or patient survival among the three groups (log-rank p = 0.197), despite a trend toward lower 5-year graft survival in the Domino group. Donor-specific antibodies and higher HLA mismatches independently predicted acute rejection. Conclusions Domino transplantation, while associated with higher immunologic challenges, achieves acceptable short-term and 5-year outcomes akin to Two-Way Paired Exchange and Normal Transplant. The built environment plays a crucial role in this transition, yet the absence of standardized indicators hinders effective circularity assessment. This study introduces a structured building-scale circularity indicator (BuCI) to support industry and academia in evaluating buildings' circularity levels and facilitating the shift towards a circular built environment. Based on a thorough review of CE, the methodology involves the generation of a model, its implementation on a selected case study and evaluation. The proposed model integrates the shearing layer and building lifecycle concepts to establish a measurement framework with defined criteria and key performance indicators. Fuzzy analytical hierarchy process and Gini index are used to formulate circularity calculation. Then, the BuCI is implemented on three different case studies, two steel and one reinforced concrete buildings. CS1 and CS2 reached 60% circularity level, thanks to the material advantages and certain design principles such as modularity, disassembly and flexibility, whereas CS3 calculated as 31.05% circular due to material and design decisions. The study contributes to the field by introducing a novel indicator for the industry, academia and authorities to accelerate the circular transition. Addressing the complexities of route expansion, the study integrates the Entropy weighting method with the 2-Tuple Linguistic T-Spherical Fuzzy Decision by Opinion Score Method (2TLTS-FDOSM) to evaluate potential destinations across critical criteria, including market demand, economic impact, and regulatory environment. Data were collected from industry reports, expert evaluations, and publicly available aviation metrics to support a thorough and adaptable analysis. Findings from the Turkish Airlines case reveal San Antonio, TX (SAT), Portland, OR (PDX), and Nashville, TN (BNA) as top-ranked destinations, each offering distinct economic and operational benefits. This study contributes to aviation management literature by presenting a versatile, data-driven framework that can guide route selection for carriers in competitive markets. The framework's ability to balance quantitative and qualitative insights underscores its potential for broader application in network planning, promoting sustainable growth within the aviation industry.Article The Development and Validation of an Integrated Assessment of Irrational Beliefs Concerning Basic Psychological Needs: The Rational Emotive Self-Determination Scale for Workers(Frontiers Media Sa, 2025) Artiran, Murat; Tinaz, Pinar; Simsek, Omer Faruk; Miller, Anthony; Vione, Katia Correa; Turner, Martin JamesIntroduction Recently a new approach to understanding human behaviour has emerged that integrates rational emotive behaviour therapy (REBT) from the cognitive behavioural tradition, and self-determination theory (SDT) from the humanistic tradition. In the current study, we develop a psychometric that conceptualizes this new approach in organisational settings; the rational emotive self-determination scale for work (RESD-W). The RESD-W assesses respondents' irrational beliefs (from REBT) concerning the basic psychological needs (from SDT), namely perceptions of autonomy, competence, and relatedness within their work life. The RESD-W builds on initial validations of the RESD in adolescent populations (RESD-A).Methods In the current paper, the psychometric properties of the 16-item RESD-W were examined across five studies, in which the factor structure, the reliability of the scale, and construct and criterion-oriented validity of the RESD-W were assessed.Results Analyses confirmed theoretical expectations and yielded good psychometric properties. Scores in the RESD-W were associated with anxiety and depression, and negative emotions in the workplace.Discussion The results are discussed regarding practice, highlighting that work related psychological wellbeing may be predicated on the integration of irrational beliefs and basic psychological needs.Article Differences in Occupants' Satisfaction and Perceived Productivity in High- and Low-Performance Offices(MDPI, 2019) Gocer, Ozgur; Candido, Christhina; Thomas, Leena; Gocer, KenanThis paper reports the results from a dataset comprising 9794 post-occupancy evaluation (POE) surveys from 77 Australian open-plan offices. This paper specifically focuses on a sub-set of 20 offices (n = 2133), identified from ranking 10 offices each, with the least (n = 1063) and highest (n = 1070) satisfaction scores, respectively. The satisfaction scores were evaluated on the basis of seven factors (i.e., building/office aesthetics and quality, thermal comfort and indoor air quality, noise distraction and privacy, personal control, connection to outdoor environment, maintenance and visual comfort, and individual space). Using the POE survey data from 20 offices, regression analyses and two-way ANOVA tests were carried out to understand the differences in occupants' satisfaction and perceived productivity arising from open-plan offices. According to the statistically significant regression analyses results, it was identified that building/office aesthetics and quality (beta = 0.55, p < 0.001) and noise distraction and privacy (beta = 0.33, p < 0.001) were the two strongest predictors contributing perceived productivity in low-performance offices. Two-way ANOVA test results for the 10 high-performance offices indicate that the perceived productivity was strongly associated with the office's physical configuration, the employees' working experience, and the working hours at that office.Article Digital Detox: Exploring the Impact of Cybersecurity Fatigue on Employee Productivity and Mental Health(Springer Nature, 2025) Mizrak, Filiz; Demirel, Hatice Gokce; Yasar, Okan; Karakaya, TurhanThis study investigates the growing phenomenon of cybersecurity fatigue and its implications for employee productivity and mental health in the high-demand sectors of information technology (IT), finance, healthcare and education. Utilizing a quantitative research methodology, the study surveyed 351 employees from these industries to analyze the relationships between cybersecurity fatigue, work efficiency, and mental health indicators, including stress and anxiety. The findings highlight cybersecurity fatigue as a significant factor contributing to burnout, reduced productivity, and increased psychological strain. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) demonstrates the moderating effects of digital detox initiatives and mental health support strategies in mitigating fatigue and improving employee well-being and organizational performance. This research addresses a critical gap by focusing on the human dimensions of cybersecurity management and offers practical recommendations for simplifying protocols and fostering resilience. The study provides actionable insights for organizations operating under stringent cybersecurity requirements, enabling them to enhance employee satisfaction and performance.Article Drivers and Barriers on Implementing XR Technologies in the Construction Industry in Turkey(Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2024) Seyman-Guray, Tayibe; Kismet, BurcuThis study presents drivers and barriers on construction industry extended reality (XR) implementations in Turkey. It aims to investigate the current state and future directions of XR opportunities for architecture offices and construction companies in a developing country. A quantitative approach was employed which involves conducting a survey, performing statistical analyses, and verification of the hypotheses. The data were analyzed by SPSS and Excel using the frequency, mean score, standard deviation (SD), and one sample t-test. Thirty-three different companies participated in the survey with a return rate of 56.89%. The results were considered statistically significant since all the p-values were below 0.05. The findings revealed that even though 60% of the companies are not using XR, 60% companies have near future plans on implementing them. According to the results, XR was considered as beneficial and highly motivating for the near future, yet it needs to be widespread for companies to keep themselves abreast of information and communication technology trends. Finally, by considering the findings obtained from the results this study reaches a classification of drivers as 'increased efficiency: time-cost-quality' and 'increased communication and coordination' while barriers as 'technical limitations', 'high costs', and 'unqualified professional'.Article Effect of Heat Treatment on Magnetic Properties of Nanocomposite Nd-Lean Nd7Fe73b20 Ribbons(Springer, 2021) Caglar, Seyit; Kilicaslan, M. Fatih; Atasoy, Ahmet; Tiryaki, Hasan; Erkovan, Mustafa; Hong, Soon-jikIn this work, we explored the effect of heat treatment on high boron and Nd-lean content magnetic Nd7Fe73B20 nanocomposite materials via vibration sample magnetometer (VSM), X-ray diffraction, differential thermal analysis (DTA), and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The Scherer formula was employed to estimate the effect in the crystal size of the heat treatment on high boron and Nd-lean content magnetic Nd7Fe73B20 nanocomposite materials. We heat-treated samples in different conditions to obtain optimum magnetic properties. Our high-throughput fabrication strategy allows us to elucidate the possibility of obtaining Nd-lean nanocomposite NdFeB magnet in terms of the melt-spinning. We evaluated the influence of heat treatment on the Nd-lean NdFeB/alpha-Fe nanocomposite magnets produced by melt-spinning. Here, in the heat-treated ribbon at 750 degrees C for 30 min, we obtained a combination of coercivity of 450 Oe, a high-saturation magnetization of 232 emu/g in the heat-treated ribbon at 650 degrees C for 30 min, which surpasses most traditional nanocrystalline magnets based on Fe-Co and pricey. The results we present here are expected to serve as a guideline for designing new magnets for industrial applications.Article Effect of Multi-Artery Renal Grafts on Patient Outcomes in Living Donor Kidney Transplantation(Springer, 2025) Huseynov, Amil; Sengul, HalilBackgroundMultiple renal arteries (MRA) in a donor kidney can increase surgical complexity in living donor kidney transplantation. However, the impact of MRA on early transplant outcomes, including delayed graft function (DGF) and early graft failure, remains unclear.MethodsWe performed a single-center retrospective cohort study of 1,200 living donor kidney transplants conducted between 2019 and 2024. Donor kidneys were classified as having a single renal artery or multiple renal arteries (two or more). Recipient and donor characteristics, intraoperative details (ischemia times, vascular anastomosis technique), and postoperative outcomes (delayed graft function [DGF], primary nonfunction, and graft survival) were compared between the two groups. Logistic regression analyses were used to examine associations between MRA and the risk of DGF or graft failure within the first 90 days, both before and after adjusting for prespecified covariates.ResultsOf the 1,200 transplanted kidneys, 882 (73.5%) had a single artery and 318 (26.5%) had multiple arteries. Although the median cold-ischemia time was longer for multi-artery grafts (35.2 min vs. 29.4 min, p = 0.004), there were no significant differences in donor or recipient baseline characteristics. Multivariable logistic regression revealed no significant association between MRA and either DGF or early graft loss. Kaplan-Meier curves, censored for death, demonstrated similar graft survival in both groups (log-rank p = 0.25).ConclusionsIn this single-center cohort of living donor kidney transplants, grafts with multiple renal arteries did not exhibit an elevated risk of DGF or early graft loss. While additional surgical complexity is often required for MRA grafts, our findings suggest that these kidneys remain a safe and effective option for transplantation, supporting their broader use to expand the donor pool.Article Effects of Ericksonian Hypnotherapy Versus Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on Prolonged Grief Among University Students: A Randomized Clinical Trial(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2025) Cinaroglu, Metin; Yilmazer, Eda; Ulker, Selami Varol; Cinar, FadimeThis study evaluates the comparative effectiveness of Ericksonian Hypnotherapy (EH) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in addressing prolonged grief among university students in Istanbul. Transitioning through critical developmental phases, 39 students who had experienced significant loss and demonstrated symptoms of prolonged grief participated in this randomized controlled trial. They were divided equally into three groups: those receiving EH, those undergoing CBT, and a control group placed on a waiting list. Assessments utilized the Prolonged Grief Scale and the Beck Depression Inventory to measure the interventions' impact on grief. Findings revealed significant improvements in both EH and CBT groups compared to the control, with EH showing marginally higher effectiveness in reducing grief symptoms. While Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is known to be effective for various body image disorders, its specific effects on individuals with MD have been less studied. This qualitative case series involved seven male participants, aged 35-55, all diagnosed with MD and with a history of anabolic steroid use, undergoing a 12-week manualized CBT intervention. The study aimed to explore how CBT impacts their body image perceptions, exercise behaviors, steroid use, and emotional responses. Data were collected through participant feedback during therapy sessions, with thematic analysis revealing significant shifts in body image perception and reductions in compulsive behaviors and steroid use. Despite these improvements, participants experienced feelings of loss and anxiety as they modified their routines, and some reported relapses under stress, indicating the chronic nature of MD. The findings suggest that CBT effectively reshapes cognitive and behavioral patterns in MD sufferers but also highlight the need for ongoing support to manage the disorder's emotional complexities and prevent relapses. Focusing on Generation Z, it investigates the intersection between meaning attributed to employee benefits and managerial decision-making guided by financial rationality. Drawing on human resources management (HRM) and finance perspectives, employee benefits are conceptualized as mechanisms for balancing human-centered value creation and economic resilience. A qualitative design was used, based on semi-structured interviews with 15 Generation Z employees and 20 human resources (HR) and finance managers in T & uuml;rkiye. Data were analyzed through thematic analysis and the Gioia methodology to develop an inductive, multi-level framework. The findings indicate that Generation Z employees view employee benefits as psychosocial resources reflecting justice, autonomy, psychological safety, and value alignment-core components of subjective and eudaimonic well-being-while managers assess them primarily through financial sustainability logics such as cost control and return on investment. Overall, meaning- and cost-oriented perspectives emerge as mutually reinforcing within sustainable organizational systems. The study proposes the Meaning-Cost Balance (MCB) Framework, conceptualizing employee benefits as a strategic management mechanism aligning employee well-being with financial resilience. Positioned at the intersection of HRM and financial sustainability, the framework contributes to sustainable organization management and offers a transferable basis for future comparative research.
