Cybersecurity and Strategic Innovation in the Digital Economy

Abstract

Cybersecurity is increasingly recognized as a key enabler of innovation in the digital economy. This chapter examines how five sectors-finance, healthcare, aviation, manufacturing, and education-are integrating cybersecurity into strategic innovation efforts. Through case studies such as blockchain in trade finance and federated learning in healthcare AI, it shows how early security integration enhances trust, scalability, and resilience. The analysis highlights sector-specific challenges, organizational capabilities, and shared success factors, while offering strategic recommendations for aligning cybersecurity with innovation governance.
