Cybersecurity Culture and Human Factor

Abstract

In today's digital environment, the business world has to go beyond seeing cyber security as a defence tool in order to adapt to rapidly changing threats and maintain its competitive advantage. Cyber security should be considered not only as a protection mechanism but also as a fundamental component of business continuity and innovation. With the evolution of technology, the threats faced by both individuals and organisations have increased. In this chapter, while examining the role of people in cyber security culture, it aims to explain the effects of individuals' behaviours and personal characteristics in this area. A strong cyber security culture not only eliminates threats by increasing employee awareness and engagement, but also makes business processes more resilient and innovative. The study examines how security awareness can be integrated into corporate culture, how the human factor shapes cyber risks and what steps organisations should take to create a more resilient structure. © 2025, IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
