A Strategic Approach to Cyberattacks and Risk Management

Abstract

Cybersecurity has become an extremely important issue that companies need to focus on to guarantee the safety of their information systems. As the need for digitalization increases, every organization must combat the ever-evolving cyberattacks. By giving a succinct summary of the current state of cyber threats, this study seeks to explore the relationship between cybersecurity risk management and cyberattacks. The study also highlights how crucial thorough risk assessment is as a first step in determining vulnerabilities, assessing the possible consequences of attacks, and setting security action priorities. Next, the five key functions of the NIST Cybersecurity Risk Management Framework were analyzed to offer a strategic perspective on how to manage cybersecurity risk throughout a business. The study emphasizes the necessity of cybersecurity, stressing the incorporation of risk management into the broader organizational strategy to better predict and prevent cyberattacks. © 2025, IGI Global Scientific Publishing.
