Abstract

With the rapid advancement of digital technologies, contemporary work models have undergone a fundamental transformation, as remote and hybrid arrangements producing complex implications for organizational structures. In this shifting landscape, human resource management (HRM) has emerged as a strategic actor in safeguarding corporate information systems. The proliferation of tools such as bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policies, cloud-based infrastructures, virtual private networks (VPN), and digital surveillance platforms has required more proactive and integrated cybersecurity strategies within HRM functions. This chapter offers a comprehensive examination of cybersecurity threats relevant to HRM in the context of remote work, emphasizing the tension between digital privacy and surveillance, the co-development of security protocols through HRM-information technology (IT) collaboration, and mechanisms to foster security-oriented employee awareness. Furthermore, the chapter offers strategies to support digital resilience and sustainability. © 2025, IGI Global Scientific Publishing. All rights reserved.
