Article Action Research About Development of Student's Artistic Form of Expression by Conceptual Art Activities(Ani Publishing, 2019) Basar, Cigdem Tanyel; Ince, MetinSince the 1960's, rapid changes and transformations in the field of art have been experienced in the light of the technological and social developments that have been experienced, and the expression forms and thought forms of today's art have differentiated. With this change in the art, there was a need for a new structuring and planning in the field of art education. The purpose of this research is to demonstrate how students' original expression patterns in artistic production have been improved through conceptual art practices. The research was designed with an action research model. Participants of the research consist of 12 undergraduate students who took Graphic Design lesson in Fine Arts Education Department of Anadolu University in the fall semester of 2012-2013 and the researcher conducting the course. Data were collected from class video records, semi-structured interviews, student diary, researcher diary, student objects/products and social media interactions. Data of the research were resolved through thematic analysis method. According to findings, it has been seen that the students have developed awareness of their surroundings by experiencing the research and inquiry process. The students have changed their conceptions of art and their distant attitudes to contemporary art and have tried to make meaning. From the research findings, students can be taught various artistic approaches such as art history, visual culture, digital art and contemporary art practices.Conference Object The Effect of Job Satisfaction and Self-Efficacy to The Intrapreneurial Behaviors(Future Academy, 2019) Soran, Semih; Sesen, Harun; Guven, BurcuOrganizations need to constantly make innovations due to the rapid changes in the political, economic, technological and social areas. In this sense, entrepreneurship is one of the concepts that have become more valuable in recent times. Since those which cannot manage to change might lose their competitive advantages and hence organizational effectiveness, the organizations should act as an entrepreneur, discover and employ the individuals having high entrepreneurial spirit and establish a new organizational environment to promote intrapreneurship. Today, the intrapreneurship is now essential for both private and public bodies and agencies. The citizenry who are habituated to the innovative services provided by private firms expect the same services and modern approaches from public institutions. Therefore, public service providers should also reveal the entrepreneurial qualifications of their personnel. In this context, intrapreneurial employees play critical roles in organizational change and development. 175 information technology managers from various businesses have participated in this research. Data were analysed with correlation and regression analysis. The results showed that job satisfaction and self-efficacy are quite effective to explain intrapreneurial behaviours of technology managers. Dualities and intersections between the building blocks of these two components are investigated by discussing organizational learning in its explorative and exploitative forms, while considering social capital in its bridging and bonding forms. As a critical contemporary step of evolution, information and communication technologies are also elaborated in order to examine the impact of constant and instant tools on these facilitators of knowledge sharing. The study aims to derive proxies among these components of organizational learning and social capital in order to design an integrated framework that reflects the nature of online communities of practice. © 2018, IGI Global. Various approaches have been introduced for path protection and wavelength assignment to ensure survivability in WDM networks. In this paper, we propose a two-step algorithm to designate dedicated-path and shared-path protection schemes. The heuristic-based algorithm utilizes a global labeling which considers service time and line protection information. Thus, the algorithm aims to increase resource utilization by improving the efficiency of shared path protection. The proposed algorithm is applied to USNET and EuropeNet networks and performance analysis in terms of blocking probability and resource utilization is carried out. © 2019 IEEE.Article The Forest Products Industry in Turkey(Academic Journals, 2011) Aksu, Baki; Koc, K. Huseyin; Kurtoglu, AhmetThis study was conducted to analyze the structure of Turkey's wood products industry and to suggest ways to improve the country's competitive position in global markets. The 415 largest solid wood manufacturers were surveyed using questionnaires administered in personal interviews and by mail. Results reveal that forest product enterprises are geographically clustered in a few provinces. Thirteen percent of respondents are using outdated technology while 63% are using relatively new technology and 24% are using advanced technology. The 2001 economic crisis seriously affected the wood products industry with a 38% decrease in the number of employees and a number of shuttered facilities. Overall, the research indicates that the Turkish forest products industry is fragmented and is experiencing a number of obstacles to further development. Turkey has an established but generally inefficient forest products industry. This article gives an overview of the sector and offers recommendations for improvement. Results from this study can be useful to manufacturers and policy makers in Turkey and other countries with similar industry structures in short and long-term sectoral planning and development.Conference Object Happiness and Intention to Leave of Z Generation in Terms of Ihrp(Future Acad, 2019) Guler, Nihal; Acar, PinarThe main objective of this research is to reveal the effects of innovative human resources practices (IHRP) on the happiness and intention to leave on Z generation employees. The sample of the study consists of 198 Z generation employees in the banking sector. In our study mixed method (qualitative-quantitative) is adopted. Firstly, the qualitative research design was taken as a model. In this respect, qualitative interviews were conducted with Z generation employees and managers. The face-to-face interviews were conducted with a small sample of 25 subjects. The reason for face-to-face interviews is that participants can freely express themselves without limitation, so that more in-depth data can be collected. Data were categorized by Nvivo 11 qualitative data analysis. In the second part of the mixed method research strategy, the quantitative research method is used to measure the interaction between the variables in our theoretical model. Data were collected from 198 employees by means of survey method and analyzed with SPSS 20 package program. The findings of the study showed that happiness has a mediation effect on innovative human resources practices and intention to leave. (C) 2019 Published by Future Academy www.FutureAcademy.org.ukArticle Introduction of a Spatio-Temporal Mapping Based POE Method for Outdoor Spaces: Suburban University Campus as a Case Study(Pergamon-Elsevier Science Ltd, 2018) Gocer, Ozgur; Gocer, Kenan; Basol, Altug M.; Kirac, M. Furkan; Ozbil, Ayse; Bakovic, Mujesira; Ozcan, BarisOutdoor spaces are important to sustainable cities because they establish a common identity for social life by improving quality of urban living. The relation between outdoor spaces and building groups, competency, use period, and interaction of micro-climatic factors are needed to be investigated from a holistic approach. Unfortunately, the limited and narrow scoped POE studies on outdoor spaces make an overall assessment without causality relation. Other existing studies in outdoor spaces are mostly grouped under the headings such as; user satisfaction, space syntax and behavioral mapping, and biometeorological assessments. The intention of this paper is to introduce a new post-occupancy evaluation (POE) method integrates these studies focusing on various problems in outdoor spaces using spatio-temporal mapping. The comprehensive methodology applied in this research attempted to overcome some of the shortcomings of related studies by conducting a longitudinal study (during a year, as opposed to a few days) and also by objectively analyzing the associations of user behavior and physical attributes as well as the configurational properties of the campus layout. With this method, outdoor spaces can be evaluated in the context of the interaction between the physical environment and its users' behavior and activities, level of satisfaction and perceptions of comfort. The method has been applied on a suburban university campus in Istanbul, Turkey. The main courtyard of the campus has been subjected for map creation and result discussions.Conference Object Managing Remote Employees: A Qualitative Research in the Logistics Industry(Future Acad, 2019) Acar, Pinar; Acar, A. ZaferIt is becoming increasingly difficult to manage organizations operating in today's complex global business environment. In particular, to manage the remote employees, who work outside of the physical boundaries of the firms, in accordance with the management principles and through the organizational purposes is considered one of the most challenging area. Despite their constantly growing numbers, the remote employees have been neglected in recent scientific studies. Meanwhile, most of those rare studies have been conducted on the IT industry and its teleworkers. However, it is known that the truck drivers have been working on behalf of a company for years almost never been in the head office. On the other hand, studies on long-distance drivers generally focus on risk factors, job stress and health of drivers. Therefore, it is a significant shortcoming that those employees, who are the critical link of the transportation function of logistics, have not been subjected on to the scientific management and organizational behaviour researches. Thus, the current study aims to eliminate this gap in this issue. This qualitative research study tries to respond above mentioned research gap with the anti-positivist approach. Contrary to the majority of the recent studies, in spite of employees (drivers), the fleet managers of the large-scale land transport companies in the industry have been selected as the unit of analysis. The data obtained from the open-ended interviews were analysed by Nvivo 12 program. The findings of our study were evaluated and discussed from an interpretive and external perspective. (C) 2019 Published by Future Academy www.FutureAcademy.org.ukBook Part The Marketization of Higher Education in Turkey (2002-2011)(Palgrave, 2012) Onal, Nevzat EvrimArticle A Post-Occupancy Evaluation Model Based on Spatio-Temporal Mapping Method for University Outdoor Spaces(Yildiz Technical University, Fac Architecture, 2020) Gocer, Ozqur; Gocer, Kenan; Basol, Altug Melik; Kirac, Mustafa Furkan; Ozbil Torun, Ayse; Bakovic, Mujesira; Ozcan, BarisNot only do university campuses consist of a variety of social and educational buildings, they also create an integrated system with their outdoor spaces and furniture, recreation and landscape areas. Outdoors have the potential to create social interaction, rest and relaxation, recreation, exchange of ideas and a strong sense of ownership and belonging. Creating a common identity for social life by enabling people to communicate and socialize with each other is the most important function of outdoor spaces. However, although the rationality of external spaces is designed, it is possible to use other than what is expected in practice. The relationship between the external spaces and the building groups, the adequacy, the duration of use, the accessibility and the interaction of the physical environment should be examined with a holistic approach to understand the difference between expectations and reality. In order to identify user needs in outdoor spaces as a way to assess if human use and design intentions are in fact successful, post occupancy evaluation (POE) is recommended as the most significant advanced method. Unfortunately, although studies on the evaluation of indoor spaces have been increasing day by day, there is no comprehensive study of POE that can be applied to the outdoor spaces, especially in university campuses. In this study, a POE method which discusses the variables that affect the use of outdoor space and the interaction between these variables is introduced. The proposed method was applied in a suburban university campus and the results were evaluated in terms of outdoor use.Article Production and Marketing Structure of Large Scale Forestry Products Industry Enterprises in Turkey(2011) Aksu, B.; Hüseyin Koç, K.; Kurtoǧlu, A.In Turkey, a country with 21.2 million ha of forest land, it is evident that the processed forest products have not been able to be developed to realize their potential with regards to the exports possibilities. It is obvious that the situation is to the disadvantage of Turkey in terms of the trading equilibrium when the exports and imports figures are examined. According to the results of the research carried out locally with respect to the Turkish Forest Products Industry, the emphasized problems emerge as the misapplication of incentives, the disability to catch up with the technological innovations, problems regarding raw material quality, undercapitalization, lack of qualified personnel, etc. By the help of this study which had been planned to cover the whole Turkish Forest Products Industry; the target is to reveal the structural situations of the large scale businesses in Turkey in the first few years of the 20th century, where modern management principles are assumed to be applied. The research had been finalized with the comments made upon the results of the questionnaires gathered through mostly faceto-face interviews with 415 large scale forest product firms where it was assumed that contemporary management principles and technological developments were applied relatively easier. As the questionnaire study was applied by the researchers themselves directly, it was also supported through observations. © 2011 Academic Journals.Article Understanding the Role of Urban Form in Explaining Transportation and Recreational Walking Among Children in a Logistic Gwr Model: A Spatial Analysis in Istanbul, Turkey(Elsevier Sci Ltd, 2020) Torun, Ayse Ozbil; Gocer, Kenan; Yesiltepe, Demet; Argin, GorsevThis study aims to examine associations between urban form factors generally, and street network configuration in particular, and walking for different purposes among children in Istanbul, Turkey. Parents of randomly selected students (ages 12-16) at 20 middle schools (N = 917) completed questionnaires about their socio-economic characteristics and the frequency of their children's walking for recreational and for transportation purposes in their neighbourhood during a typical day. The environment around 400 m of participants' homes was evaluated through GIS-based parcel-level land-use data and segment-based street connectivity measures calculated using space syntax techniques. Logistic geographically weighted regression models were estimated to measure the desired associations while adjusting for socio-economic characteristics. Results demonstrate a marginal association between urban form measures and walking behaviour but only in certain peripheral parts of the city. More importantly, increased directional accessibility, which identifies the extent to which more street length is accessible within few direction changes, is associated with higher odds of recreational walking in particular areas where a strong differentiation between scales of street connectivity structure is evident such as a supergrid of primary roads with inserted organic local streets. In addition, children residing in neighbourhoods with reduced residential density and increased commercial and recreational activities are more likely to walk for transportation purposes. The findings of this study demonstrate that the one-size-fits-all approach may not effectively encourage walking. Urban areas tend to have varying qualities that need to be handled uniquely, and therefore targeted rather than blanket interventions regarding the design of neighbourhoods around schools and homes may be beneficial in supporting walking behaviour of children.
