Greening Logistics Centers: The Evolution of Industrial Buying Criteria Towards Green

The rapidly globalizing world trade requires longer supply chains with higher attention on the environmental effects of logistics activities. Latest international conventions related with environmental regulations reinforce governments and corporations to adhere to environmental protection precautions. An effort to decrease the negative environmental effects of logistics activity is the geographical concentration of logistics companies which are called logistics centers. This study aims to provide a green industrial service buying approach for the industrial customers of logistics centers. The study combines green purchasing literature with previousely developed environmental performance indicators (EPIs) and develops a green industrial buying model for logistics centers. The model provides a framework for potential residents of a logistics center and supports their industrial buying processes. The model also serves as an input for green industrial service design in a logistics center.
Is It Possible to Define Globalization in One Definition

When approximately past 50 years of past experience considered; it can be defined as a period where bipolar system that dominates the world collapsed and instead, monopole system established and thus, depending on the development of communication and transportation technologies of capitalism, economic, political and cultural dimensions of the relations are changed and intensified among the societies. This period has led to the differentiation in the ways of perceiving the world and in the lifestyles of the societies. In this context, time-space perceptions of societies and the processes of meaning the world began to develop and differ. Thus, globalization emerged where the contrast between far-near is removed and dimension of cross-border interaction developed and the nation states which are important actors of the past periods left their power to local cities and regions. As it can be seen from this, the past time has been subject to a social transformation. Therefore, the concept of globalization has been formed where the contrast between far-near is removed and dimension of cross-border interaction developed. Definition of the concept of globalization in its simplest form is; convergence of countries and people by ignoring the distance between the distant and nearby places and having economic and social interaction with each other. An important element in the definition of globalization is; decisions taken at the local level and adopted policies has the power to pass other nations and influence them. Especially when the last three decades considered; the mankind history felt the power of globalization and it will continue to be felt more effective in the coming years due to the circumstances of the current period. Within this rapid change and development process; supranational organizations that are competitive in global market conditions have taken their place in the process as global actors with their areas of activity they are dominant, organizational structures, understanding of management, forms of competition and capital structures they have. In this study; access to the definition of globalization concept and its evaluation for the last five decades targeted within the framework of approaches to the concept of globalization by emphasizing rapid and radical change.
A New Simulation Modelling Approach to Continuous Berth Allocation

Within the international supply chain and logistics system, ports are an important ring of the basic transport activities. Thus, any shortage in or lack of well-planned orders encountered in the port operation processes is most likely to affect the whole logistic system, which eventually will cause undesirable delays in deliveries. This study aims at developing a simulation modelling approach to continuous berth allocation in Port of Izmir Alsancak, which has continuous quayside with two main wharfs perpendicular to each other. The simulation models which serve to evaluate the proposed modelling approach have been developed in ARENA 10.0 Simulation Software. The results of the conducted computational experiments showed that the proposed modelling approach provides more accurate and realistic estimates of performance measures, such as average berth utilisation, average ship waiting time in a queue, and the average number of ships in queuing up to get container terminals.
Okul Öncesi Dönemde Dijital Yolla Sanat Eğitimini Destekleyen Örnek Bir Çalışma

Okul öncesinde verilen sanat eğitiminin asıl amacı bireyin yaratıcılığını ön plana çıkarmasıdır. Sanat eğitimi, bireylerin daha güçlü bir anlatıma sahip olabilmesi için bir iletişim kurma aracı olarak görülür. Bireyin duygu ve düşüncelerini somut kavramlardan yararlanarak aktarması becerilerinin geliştiğini göstermektedir. Sanat eğitimi okul öncesi dönemde olan bireylerde geleneksel yöntemin yanında uygulamalı etkinliklerle şekillenmeye başlamıştır
The Political Economy of Housing Financialization in Turkey: Links with and Contradictions to the Accumulation Model

Financialization influenced the Turkish economy and housing industry mostly through financial liberalization moves and soaring capital inflows. It both increased household liabilities and mortgage loans dramatically and offered various facilities for the housing industry. Relevant legal regulations not only helped the Turkish housing industry prosper but also eased its integration into the national and global financial system. In addition, political implications constituted a strong motivation for governments to attach special importance to the housing industry. I examine housing financialization as an integral part of the accumulation model of the Turkish economy and argue that the housing industry lies at the very heart of the contradictions of this model. The large-scale capital inflows both intensified the dependency on foreign resources and increased the role of the domestic demand. This is the main contradiction of the accumulation model; it manifests itself in the interest rate dilemma and is also critical for housing financialization in Turkey because the characteristics of this model are especially valid for the housing industry. Moreover, not only do the contradictions of the accumulation model disrupt the housing industry, but also the characteristics of the housing industry contribute to the disruption of this model.
Product Placement Effects on Internatıonal Sales of Clıents In Exported Turkısh Soap Operas

Turkish soap operas have scored great success both in the home country and also in Middle East and Balkan countries recently. In Turkey producers and marketers discovered the power of soap operas. Thus as a promotional mix element product placement is widespreadly used in Turkish soap operas. On the other hand Turkish soap operas are broadcasted in more than 100 countries. Consequently the product placed in exported soap opera is seen by audience in foreign countries. This paper investigates the effect of product placement in Turkish soap operas to the sponsor firms’ (clients’) international sales. In other words it is questioned if Turkish placed products’ international sales rise after soap operas’ internationalization. Qualitative research is done on 3 jewellery firms placing their products on soap operas. Study results finds out firstly the general product placement effects to the clients. This study also discover that the firms having a distribution channel in foreign countries evaluate the results after product placement differently from the firms that don’t have distribution channel in foreign countries. Thus, this paper finds out the importance of distribution channel for international sales after product placement. Consequently distribution channel possession in foreign countries has been evaluated as a property of firm affecting product placement results especially the internatonal sales.
Tarım ve Köylülük "Sorun"larına Dair Bir Tartışma Çerçevesi

Kapitalist üretim biçiminin ortaya çıkışından bu yana gelişiminin tüm aşamalarında, tarım ve köylülük farklı düşünce ekolleri tarafından kendi düşünsel pozisyonlarına göre sorunsallaştırılmış ve tartışılagelmiştir. Bu tartışmaların tamamı, tartışmayı yürüten ekollerin temsil ettiği sınıfsal çıkarların izlerini taşır. Öte yandan tarım ve köylülük "sorun"larının farklı coğrafyalarda sergilediği gelişme süreçleri arasındaki büyük nitel farklılıklar, her birini kendi içerisinden ele alarak ortak bir çerçeveye varmayı kuramsal olarak imkânsız kılmasa da, tarih dışı bir çabaya dönüştürmektedir. Ne var ki, bilhassa son yirmi yıl zarfında, gıda başlığının da eklenmesiyle beraber tartışma yeniden alevlenmiş ve daha da karmaşıklaşmıştır. Bu çalışmanın odağında, Türkiye'de de hararetle yürütülmekte olan bu tartışmanın, sadeleştirilmesi gereken kuramsal zemini bulunmaktadır. Bu doğrultuda, tarihsel materyalist düşüncenin tarım ve köylülüğün sorunsallaştırılmasına yönelik yaklaşımı güncel bağlamda yeniden üretilecek ve bir tartışma çerçevesi sunulacaktır.
Tarımsal Ürün Fiyat Artışlarının Türkiye Tarımının Yapısal Sorunlarına Dair Gösterdikleri

Türkiye’de işlenmemiş tarımsal ürünlerin perakende fiyatları Kasım 2018 itibariyle genel olarak zaten yüksek seyretmekte olan enflasyonun çok ötesinde bir artış sürecine girdi. Yaş sebze ve meyvede dört ay zarfında yüzde 50’yi aşan nominal fiyat artışı doğal olarak hararetli tartışmaları da tetikledi ve meseleye çok sayıda açıklama getirildi. Bu açıklamalar içerisinde en yaygını Türkiye tarımının girdi açısından dışa bağımlılığı ve döviz kurunda 2018 ortasında yaşanan şokun fiyatlara yansımış olmasıydı. Bu açıklama, belli bir düzeyde doğru olsa da; bu makalenin yazarı döviz kuru ile işlenmemiş tarımsal ürünlerin perakende fiyatları arasında kurulan ilişkinin Türkiye’nin tarımsal ürün ihracatı dikkate alınmadığı müddetçe eksikli olacağını düşünmektedir. Fiyatların kura verdiği şiddetli tepki, Türkiye tarımının son yirmi yılını kapsayan yapısal sorunlarının bir bakiyesi niteliğindedir ve doğru yöntem, olanların bu tarihsel perspektiften değerlendirilmesidir. Dolayısıyla bu makalede, son verilerin işaret ettiği eğilimler tarihsel analize tabi tutulacak ve eldeki soruna kısa vadeli ve geçici değil; uzun vadeli ve (en azından daha) kalıcı, bütünlüklü bir çözüm önerilecektir.
Ulusal Sinema: Ulus, Kültür, Kimlik Ve Karakter Üzerinden Bir İnceleme

Ulus kavramının tek bir bilimsel tarifini vermek kolay değildir. Farklı disiplinlerden ve toplumlardan düşünürler zaman içinde kavramın bir veya birkaç niteliğini öne çıkararak birbirini bütünleyen bir literatürün oluşumuna katkıda bulunmuşlardır. Konu tartışılmaya ve farklı ulusal deneyimlerle zenginleşmeye devam etmektedir. Ulus gibi ona içkin ulusal kültür, ulusal kimlik ve ulusal karakter de tartışmalı ve değişken kavramlardır. Bugün geldiğimiz noktada, bilim insanlarınca genel kabul gören yaklaşım, ulusun ve onunla ilintili kavramların hiç bitmeyen modern birer inşa olduklarıdır. Sinema da sanatların toplumla en bütünleşmişi olarak bir yandan bu inşaya katkıda bulunurken öte yandan ulusla ilintili kavramların sorgulanabilmesi için olanaklar sunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, ulusal sinema kavramının ulus, ulusal kültür, ulusal kimlik ve ulusal karakter kavramları ile çok boyutlu ilişkisi ve birbirlerine olan etkileri incelenmektedir. Ulus sözcüğünün tarihsel kökeni ve gelişimiyle başlayan metin, kavramın çeşitli modern tarifleriyle sürmekte, ardından sinemanın ulus inşasına katkıları ve ulusal sinema kavramına farklı yaklaşımlardan söz edilmekte, bunları kültür ve ulusal kültür kavramlarının çeşitli açıklamaları ve sinemayla ilişkisi izlemektedir. Daha sonra kimlik kavramının bireysel ve ulusal boyutları, ulusal kimliğin ulusla ilişkisi açımlanmakta, sinemanın ulusal kimlik inşasına hizmet etmenin yanında onun sorgulanmasında da önemli bir işleve sahip olduğu vurgulanmaktadır. Son olarak ulusal karakter tanımı ve ulusal karakterin sinemadaki karşılığı ele alınmaktadır.
Wavelet Analyses of Oil Prices, USD Variations and Impact on Logistics

This paper is related with temporal variations of historical oil prices and Dollar and Euro in Turkey. Daily data based on OECD and Central Bank of Turkey records beginning from 1946 has been considered. IDcontinuous wavelets and wavelet packets analysis techniques have been applied on data. Wavelet techniques help to detect abrupt changing's, increasing and decreasing trends of data. Estimation of variables has been presented by using linear regression estimation techniques. The results of this study have been compared with the small and large scale effects. Transportation costs of track show a similar variation with fuel prices. The second part of the paper is related with estimation of imports, exports, costs, total number of vehicles and annual variations by considering temporal variation of oil prices and Dollar currency in Turkey. Wavelet techniques offer a user friendly methodology to interpret some local effects on increasing trend of imports and exports data. © 2009 American Institute of Pliysics.
